On March 31, 1998, EMI Records in the USA releases a compilation of early Pet Shop Boys songs, The Essential Pet Shop Boys, in a limited edition run of only 6 months. Very few initial promo copies of the CD are titled ‘Early’, making it a highly collectable item.
