August 1981

On August 19th, Neil and Chris meet by chance in an electronics shop on the Kings Road. Realizing they have a common interest in dance music, they begin to write together. Initially they call themselves West End; later they come up with the name Pet Shop Boys, a name derived from some friends who work in a pet shop in Ealing. "We thought it sounded like an English rap group".

2002

The Boys take their Release tour to the St. Denis Theatre in Montreal, Canada.

2005

Chris and Neil meet with their manager to discuss the upcoming release of the Battleship Potemkin score. They decide at this time that 'No Time for Tears' should be released as a singleā€”a decision that's later revoked.

2012

They finish work on their song 'The Way Through the Woods' and begin recording a cover of the Bee Gees classic 'I Started a Joke' in tribute to Robin Gibb, who had died the previous weekend.
