Pets win a prize

On October 22, 2003 in Hamburg, Germany, the annual WORLD AWARDS will be presented for the fourth time by President Mikhail S. Gorbachev to deserving individuals in a variety of fields who through personal commitment, sustained efforts and excellence in their work have contributed to create a better world. 

Among past award winners are Sir Paul McCartney, Steven Spielberg, Ted Turner, Michael Jackson, Sir Richard Branson, Jeremy Irons, Roman Polanski, Luciano Pavarotti. This year’s attending WORLD AWARD winners include Michael Douglas, the Bee Gees, Christopher Reeve, Morgan Freeman, Karl Lagerfeld.

Pet Shop Boys are being presented with The World Arts Award 2003 “for their extraordinary dedication to art, their social engagement and their unique contribution to popular music as well as their overall patronage of the arts.”

The previous winners of this prestigious honor include Sir Paul McCartney (2001) and Michael Jackson (2002).

A signed pair of Neil’s Celine shoes are being auctioned as part of the “Celebrity Shoe Auction 2024”, organised by the Small Steps Project. The auction closes on Thursday, 19 December, with proceeds supporting the children’s charity, which provides shoes and emergency aid to children living on landfill sites around the world.
