Reproducing the Yes artwork in sweets: an excellent way of wasting time! Go the the link for more. (It’s Pop Justice, of course.)
Nice little PSB interview in the latest ‘Q’ magazine — very “Smash Hits”. (Slightly disappointing album review though.)
Spex magazine is now on sale in Germany, Austria and Switzerland.
The innovative 2007 video for “Integral” by Rumpus Room has been nominated for another award and is now part of an exhibition at the Design Museum. Full details at the link below of where to see the exhibition and how to vote for the award.
The German pop culture magazine SPEX goes on sale today in Germany, Austria and Switzerland. Their March/April issue comes with two different covers, one showing Neil, one Chris. Inside the magazine there’s a ten-page feature including an extensive interview, an essay on ‘Yes’, plus exclusive photos. This is the Chris cover…
Brandon and Chris having a beer backstage at the Brits last night.
David Walliams and Matt Lucas were guests of ours and came backstage before the show. We also invited our brothers and sisters (Victoria, Tim, Greg, Susan, Simon and Philip), our old manager, Jill Carrington, and various friends including Janet Street-Porter.
This is me just before going onstage at The Brits. The outfit is by the young British designer Gareth Pugh. Chris was wearing a coat by James Long.
I’m being interviewed on The Radcliffe & Maconie Show, Radio 2 at 8 pm tonight. Probably talk about last night. Neil x
The video for “Love etc.” is animated. It’s being made by a Dutch artist called Han Hoogerbrugge and will be finished by February 23rd. In the meantime you can check out Han’s work at Hoogerbrugge.com if you feel like it. It’s pretty interesting. (That’s a section of the video storyboard above.)
We went to the BBC Concert Orchestra concert, “Time and Chance”, at the Queen Elizabeth Hall tonight. Thought our one-minute piece (“Particle”) sounded pretty good as part of a multi-composer piece. Nice to see Anne Dudley there (and some PSB fans from WAY back) and to hear Charles Ives’ “The Unanswered Question”.
Looks like on Thursday we should be able to announce details of a couple of British concerts. Stay tuned for details! Neil x
Check out the video and track of “A little black dress” by West End Girls. We originally wrote this song for our musical, “Closer to Heaven”, but it got cut out. A while ago we gave it to the Swedish duo, West End Girls, to record. It’s finally arriving as their new single in Sweden.
Ignore reports that we’re in a “panic” about our Brits production. With Es Devlin at the creative helm, we’re cool, calm and very organised! If you go to The Brits link, you’ll find an interview with us talking about plans for the night.
Check out the trailer for a new film, “Bronson”, that features “It’s a sin”. The film is getting great reviews. We were asked to write the soundtrack but didn’t have time as we were making our new album. It seems to have a great soundtrack anyway.
There’s an interesting early review of “Yes” on this online magazine. And there’s a great review in Attitude magazine but you’ll have to buy it to read it.
We still like this little film by Katie Grand. (Go to the link to watch an excerpt.)
It’s designed by Stella McCartney and it’s for a good cause. Go to the link if you want to buy this year’s Comic Relief T‑shirt. (Photograph by Paul Farrell.)
Neil has been talking to the Radio Times about “X Factor” amongst other things. Go to the link for the full story.
If you’ve got nothing better to do, tune in to Absolute Radio in about 10 minutes (18.25) and listen to me being interviewed. “Love etc.” is their record of the week.
From today’s Guardian newspaper.
We drove down to Croydon today to visit the Brit School which is funded by the record industry and the government and teaches music and media courses alongside the regular academic curriculum. We were impressed by dedication of both teachers and pupils and the excellent facilities: recording studio, film editing suite, theatre, radio station etc. Here I am with the headmaster, Nick Williams (right), and the Chairman of the BPI, Tony Wadsworth. It’s traditional for the winner of the Outstanding Contribution award at the Brits to pay a visit.
